Liposuction

AESTHETIC CLINIC

Liposuction

Liposuction, sometimes referred to as “lipo” by patients, slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and improving your body contours and proportion.

During liposuction, small, thin, blunt-tipped tubes (cannula) are inserted through tiny cuts in the skin. Fat is suctioned out through these tubes as the doctor moves the tubes around under the skin to target specific fat deposits. New methods such as Vaser or Laser are very popular.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have realistic expectations from this procedure yes you are a good candidate. Liposuction should be considered as a body countring operation and it is not a weight loss procedure. It will help you reshape the particular areas of your body.

Liposuction procedures are mostly performed under general anesthesia in operating theater. When general anesthesia is employed, then patients usually require one to three hours of post-anesthesia observation before being discharged home. If more liposuction is applied to more areas of the body, patient can be hospitalized one night. Most patients can return to a desk-type job with two days. Because of the significant decrease in swelling, inflammation and pain after tumescent liposuction, patients are able to return to normal physical activities very soon after liposuction. You will need to carry a garment for 4-6 weeks in order to gain better results and prevent possible swellings.

During the two days immediately after liposuction, the amount of pain experienced depends on the type of anesthesia used for liposuction. Soreness is usually the most intense 2 to 4 days after liposuction and then decreases steadily. The tenderness and soreness typically is quite bothersome for up to 4 weeks, but gradually subsides over the following next 4 to 8 weeks.

A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a major surgical procedure requiring general anesthesia, and involves liposuction and excision to remove fat, plus a large excision of skin. In many patients (but not all) liposuction of the abdomen can often provide equivalent or better results than a tummy tuck. Because liposuction is safer and causes less scarring compared to tummy tucks, abdominal liposuction is now far more common than are tummy tucks.

There are various types of liposuction. Your doctor will definitely tell you which method will give the best results depending on your skin type, lipid tissue and amount of fat. Nowadays Laser and Vaser liposuction are very popular and preferable because of the ability of those devices of targeting a specific area with easier healing time and less bruises. You can consult your surgeon about the method to be used.

You will be given body garments after the surgery creating compression on the areas in order to prevent swelling and bruises. This will also help you get better results. You will need to carry the garments around 4-6 weeks.

Definitely not. Liposuction is the removal of excess fat in partial areas of your body. Maximum of 8-9 kgs fat removal is recommended by our doctors and this shouldn’t be considered as a weight loss procedure. You can check gastric sleeve or gastric balloon procedures for weight losing.
