Breast Lift

Breast Lift operation also known as mastopexy lifts the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast contour. A breast lift restores a firmer, perkier, and more aesthetically pleasing shape to sagging breasts. This not only can improve a patient’s appearance by restoring her youthful, feminine proportions, but also help bras and swimsuits fit more comfortably and attractively. By removing excess, stretched out skin, reshaping the breast tissue, and raising the nipple and areola into a more forward position, a cosmetic surgeon can create a more youthful breast contour. Stretched, large areolas can also be reduced during breast lift surgery, creating an overall better proportioned, natural looking breast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Incision locations are particular to each patient, based on the amount of skin that requires removal. In the mildest breast lifts, the cut may lie around the upper part of the nipple areola. With more ambitious procedures, the incision may reach around the areola, downward vertically or even horizontally beneath the breast.

For several months following surgery, incisions can turn red and raised. Typically, these scars fade nicely over time. The final result depends on your individual capacity for healing. Silicone based gels also help.

Taking a minimum of five days off from work to recover is mostly recommended. After one week, you may resume non-strenuous activities, limiting lifting and stretching for an additional two weeks.

For young adults who are bothered by particularly droopy breasts, it may be beneficial to have a breast lift before pregnancy. In more subtle cases of breast droopiness, it’s reasonable to wait until after children to have a breast lift.
